Acuvue Advanced for Astigmatism?!

Question: I have a few questions, and if you know of any better contacts, feel free to tell me about them.

1. Are they comfortable?
2. Are the dry?
3. Is it possible for them to fall out of your eyes?
4. Are they disposable?
5. Where can I get them (preferablly not off the internet unless I have to)
6. How would I get the right presciption?
7. How much do they cost and how many would I get for this price?
8. Are the soft?
9. How long can you wear them?

And please keep in mind taht all of these questions are referring to Acuvue Advanced for Astigmatism (contacts)! Thank you SO much!

i have astigmatism in my right eye (weird, one eye, i know) but i dont use acuvue.

i went to get contacts the other day and they wanted me to get softmed. so i did. theyre less than $20 a box and theyre biweekly (so change them every 2 weeks).
since my prescription is different on both my eyes, i have to get 2 boxes. so i spend about $40 for every 4 months (they come in a pack of 6.

for any contacts, the max that you should be wearing them is about 12-14. contacts block oxygen from the cornea, so excessive blocking equals protein build up--which is not good. i went to americas best and they had them there for me already. and yes, theyre soft--no they are not dry. it took me about 10 minutes..and after that, i couldnt feel them in my eye and i got used to them very, very quickly.

and for the right prescription, you HAVE to get an eye exam--its the law. at americas best, the eye exam and both boxes of contacts was $110.

1. Yes, as long as your prescription fits.
2, No, but everyone responds to contacts differently
3. If rubbed out or they get too dry from sleeping, etc. but they don't just fall out.
4. Most contacts are, do you mean daily? weekly? monthly?
5. An eye doctor if you don't want to order off the internet or don't have a prescription.
6. Your doctor will fit you properly
7.The eye doctor will be a little more expensive than the internet.
8. Yes
9. Depends on what your doctor reccomends.

Acuvue torics have hydroclear which is to make the contact feel more comfortable and less dry. One box contains 6 lenses. You need to get a prescription for them from an eye doctor.Wal-mart drs. tend to give the more affordable exams. You can also purchase the contacts from there as well but since they are torics they have to be ordered and will take at least one week to come in. They are a soft disposable lens. You can wear them for up to two weeks making sure you remove them every night. The prices may vary. It is best to price shop. There are many other brands out there if this isn't the right type for you. I myself wear acuvue toric in one eye and soflens toric for the other because one eye does get irritated by the acuvue. You will have to be fitted with trials to make sure they fit right and are comfortable. If they fall out then you should tell the dr. before he makes a final decision and gives you your final prescription.

What's your deep seated attraction to Acuvue Advanced? I think their are much better toric lenses out there for astigmatism. Purevision toric have superior optics, though you do pay for it, and they are a bit more expensive than the Acuvue Advanced...

Toric lenses are among the most uncomfortable of soft contact lenses--but realize that this is NOT saying that they are "uncomfortable"--but just that compared to regular spherical contact lenses, you can sometimes feel them a little more due to the thin/thick toric design that keeps them at a certain angle in your eye (astigmatism requires the lens to be at a different angle according to your prescription). I found I got used to toric soft contacts after a day or two (whereas spherical soft contacts are often comfortable instantly).

Newer lens materials--such as Acuvue Advanced or Purevision--are made from silicone hydrogel and are great at staying moist and comfortable for long wearing hours. I wear my Purevisions for 16+ hours a day with very little problems.

Toric soft contacts cost between $24 (internet price) to $109 (at your doctors office) for a box of six usually. There is a big difference in prices--and you can usually get them for less than half of what your doctors office charges over the internet (Costco/Walmart are also cheap-ish).

Usually toric soft contacts are worn for 14-30 days before disposing of them and opening a brand new pair. Many people keep them clean and disinfected and get double this wear time out of them, but doing so is a personal choice.

To be fitted for contacts, you must see an OD. If cost is a big issue, you can get lower cost fittings at Costcos or WalMarts (but like my friend says, ask yourself why a qualified doctor would graduate med school with incredible debt and then go to work at Costco or WalMart...?)

Soft contacts will very, very rarely fall out of your eyes--they stick to the eyeball like cellophane.

Ok. Sum time, nah, yes, optical shop, check the eye sight before getting the lenses, yes, 2 week to 4 weeks. It depends on the user. But if u r looking for a good toric lenses then do try out purevision toric.
