Do black lights damage your eye sight?!

Question: I've recently been working with a black light and I've noticed that my eyes feel very tired after I go back into normal lighting. I know black lights are high in UV light, but my contact lenses are supposed to block UVA and UVB light, so I didn't think it would be a problem.

Should I be wearing some kind of protective glasses? Or could it just be that my eyes have trouble adjusting to the contrast of black lighting and that really no damage is being done?

Thanks :)

Shortwave UV lights cause eye damage and your contacts would not offer enough protection. Longwave black lights are safer.
