Can eye pinguiculas be caused by eye surgery?!
Question: I was diagnosed with opthalmic graves disease in 2000. It turned out to be an unusual case, as my eyes progressed for over 5 years. Due to the severity and potential for further vision problems or blindness, I had to have several surgeries, even as my eye illness progressed, and some of those surgeries had to be repeated a few times. I lost count as to how many surgeries I have had, but I just recently had what is hopefully to be the last one due to the graves disease. I am thankful that my graves is not active anymore and the worst is in the past, but I am left with pinguiculas on my eyes, which appeared shortly after one of my surgeries. I am not a sun bather and am wondering if perhaps surgery (or graves) might have encouraged these growths and what I should do about them. Does insurance pay for removal. I fear they are growing and affecting my vision, although I don't see any raised areas on my iris, but my my vision is very different these days. I appreciate any info on this

No,pinguicula is caused by exposure to ultraviolet rays of sunlight and it's a slowly growing condition.
