I have astigmatism, so I wear Acuvue Advanced Pro for Astigmatism. I have bifocal contacts, and no, they're not the color ones. Your eye doctor will tell you which type of contact seems to work best for you.

Techniques for getting them in:
1. WASH YOUR HANDS!!! I can't stress this enough.
2. Practice touching your eyeball ~ Look up to the ceiling while in front of a mirror after you put a drop of eyedrops or something on your index finger of whatever handed you are and touch the white part of your eye. It helps if you can't see your finger coming at your eye. This is for BEFORE you get the contacts, just to get used to touching your eyes.
3. Put your contacts in in a bright bathroom right after you get up in the morning so your eyes start to water and make them moister.
4. Fill the contact with contact solution before putting it in. You could also do 1 drop of eye drop stuff first and then fill the rest up with regular contact solution. Some will fall out but don't worry about that. It helps me.

Techniques for getting them out:
1. WASH YOUR HANDS!!! Again, I can's stress this enough.
2. Hold your eye like they show you how to put them in and then look straight ahead at the mirror, not your finger, touch the contact, keep it under your finger, look up, grab with thumb as well as index finger, pinch, and pull out. I can do both eyes at the same time, but I've been wearing contacts for almost two years. (I'm 13.)

Tips for Keeping them Clean:
Since I have daily disposable, I don't have to worry about that but here's what I used to do.
1. Take out one contact after washing hands and put on palm of hand.
2. Keep it that side up and squirt contact solution on it for a count of five.
3. Do the same as Step 2 but flip the contact so you clean the other side.
4. put on finger
5. drop in contacts case for the side for the correct eye you're going to put it in the next morning.
6. Repeat steps 1-5 for other contact/eye, except for the fact that you don't need to wash your hands again.
Monthly vs. Weekly:
Well for one, you forgot the daily disposable kind. This is what I get. I love them, but some people don't like opening a new package every day. It just depends. I also like the monthly ones. It depends on the brand. Ever since I got bifocal ones, though, I love the daily disposable ones.

Soft vs. Hard:
SOFT! So much more comfortable!

I go to a private eye doctor, but my mom goes to Eye-Q and loves it. I guess it depends on the type of person you are.

I have horrible eye sight, so I have not positive vision like 20/20 is perfect, but I have like -18/-57 or something in my right eye.

I have extremely dry, sensitive eyes, so take my advice if you have horrible eye sight and have extremely dry, sensitive eyes. If not, if you're like my friend with perfect eyes, she took all this advice, uses it, and loves it!

And I think this was nice, but you can choose. And YOUR WELCOME OODLES AND OODLES.

Oh, and I agree with Dee about the fact that you should have a pair of back-up glasses at or around the correct presicription because when your sick, you really don't want to put your contacts in, you have to get from the bathroom to your bed and the other way around, (if you're like me this can be a major problem) when your at sleepover you shouldn't sleep in your contacts and you're going to need your glasses, and sometimes it's just a good idea to give your eyes a break once and for all!

You seem all excited by the fact you are getting them. I hope you will really enjoy the experience.

But no one can recommend the type or brand you need except your Dr. after the examination.

They will show you how to put them in and remove, and give you all the info you need when you get them.

Have fun with it...and don't be afraid to ask any questions you have to them , if they missed anything.

The healthiest (but most expensive) for normal eyes would be the ones you use only one day and then throw away. Great for your eyes because they are always fresh and don't depend on your cleaning regimine. If you can afford it, try them!

Regular disposables are also good but require you to take care of them correctly every night. Please do follow all the care instructions. At 14, your eyes have to last you a long time.

If you have astigmatism, you may need toric contact lenses and your eye care professional can give you all the info you need.

If you are playing sports, very few people would want to go with anything other than a soft contact lens because they will stay in better. Most teens (and other new wearers) these days do go with soft contacts.

Also, please make sure you have a current pair of glasses to wear. It's good to give your eyes a break from the contacts.

Good Luck!

You should get acuvue colors in Gray, thats what i got and i always get compliments on how good they look ,but u should really get what color soouts u best! CONGRATS

if you're a starter get daily ones..

ppl have answered your questions so there's no need for me to repeat them..
