I have a differrence in how each eye perceives color?!

Question: In both eyes color perception is "normal". But compared to each other, one eye seems to have a tint over it. As if I am looking through a tinted window. I only notice this difference when I look through one eye then the other, not when I have them both open at the same time. And its more noticable in natural light. Does any one have any ideas?

You are female and one of your parents is colorblind (dad) or mom is carrier......color blindness is carried recessively on the X chromosome....you are heterozygous for eye color one X for normal vision and the other X is 'colorblind'...as a fetus only one X chromosome functions in your cells and the other becomes inactive...This process occurs randomly throughout the body...
So what happened is that one eye is using the 'normal X and the other eye is using the colorblind X...neat!
It is rare and in my 30 years of teaching human genetics found only one woman in my classes that exhibited this characteristic...next time you see you eye doctor have him/her do a colorblind test on each eye....compare to dad if he is colorblind...if mom is a carrier she also could have different vision for each eye.

part of the phenomenon X inactivation/

I have the same problem, there isnt anything wrong with you. How is your vision other than that? Mine is terrible

Yeah I know... bad. Maybe it's common amoung people who have different visions in each eye.
