Just got glasses today and it's so weird?!

Question: I'm 26 years old, and I've been using contacts since I was 12. But now I finally got a pair of glasses, so my eyes could get some rest while I'm home. My vision is horrible, -7.5, so my glasses are -8.0. But when I wear the glasses I picked up today, everything I see in the glasses seems so much further away than they really are! Just int he couple of hours I've had them on since I got them, I've been walking into the wall because I've miscalculated the door. I've been falling when walking in the stairs, because it looks like it's an extra step when it isn't.

Is this normal? Do I just have to get used to it? Or are my glasses messed up?

You should probably clarify with your doctor to make sure, it's possible that the prescription just is clearer or something. It might be too clear.

I have the problem when I wear my glasses and then put my contacts in, or if I wear one pair of glasses and then the other, I get dizzy or feel taller somehow, but it's never that serious.

It couldnt hurt to check with your doc. Best of luck!

i can't imagine thats normal. you should probly talk to your eye doctor too make sure, but i don't think there should be that much of a difference between your contacts and glasses.

I don't think this is normal though, but it may be something you have to get used to. Still go to your optomitrist. I think your glasses should be on the same level as your vision because it'll be either too strong or weak. Hope this helps.

I have worked in this for several years so hope I can help. If you have worn Contacts of one Rx and glasses of another things will be weird. You see different out of Contacts than you do glasses any way. Your eyes may fight a new Rx because they are used to the old Rx. Give it about a week and do not go back and forth between new and old Rx. If after a week of constant wear you don't feel more comfortable you may need your Rx altered.

Your eyes may just need to adjust to the new glasses but if you don't get use to them within a few weeks than you should take them back to have them looked at. It may just be the lens or something they can fix.

I wear glasses and it is always weird the first few days seeing through the new glasses that i get...
