It partly depends on what type of contacts you get. I wear the 2 week disposables, so after 14 wears, I throw them out and start over with a new pair.
But this is my routine:
After wearing them, I wash my hands well, then take them out. I rub each side of the lens with a few drops of solution for 10 seconds to clean it well, then rinse each side for 5 seconds with the solution. After that, I put enough solution in the contact case to completely cover the contact, and drop one contact in each side of the case. Put the lids on the case, and let them soak overnight, or at least 6 hours. The next morning, I take one lens out at a time, rinse it with solution just to be sure all debris is gone, and I put them in. You need to use fresh solution each time you soak your contacts; never ever reuse solution in the case. That can lead to eye infections.

There are various types of solution out there, such as rub and no-rub. I use a no-rub solution, but I still prefer to rub the lenses, just to be sure they are as clean as they possibly can be. Your eye doctor will most likely have some recommendations on what type of solution will work well for you, or a solution that he finds to be a good one with most people.

That particular routine will work with weekly disposables, bi-weekly like mine, monthly, yearly, etc. Anything that is designed for longer than 2 week wear may require the addition of a protein remover. Protein can build up on the contacts after they've been worn awhile, and if you don't get it off it can cause you to experience blurred vision.

Daily disposables are probably the easiest to care for, because there really isn't much care involved. You wear them once, then you toss them, and start with a new pair the next day. No cleaning or storing necessary on them. Any other type will require the cleaning and storing I mentioned earlier. But it's really not hard to do, and it doesn't take that long either.

If your eyes get dry, you can get eye drops that are made for use while wearing contacts. Most of them help add some extra moisture to your eyes, and can be used pretty much as often as you need them.

Inserting and removing the contacts can be a bit tricky at first, but you will get better the more and more you do it, so just be patient with yourself.

Your eye doctor will train you in all the aspects of wearing contacts...how to insert/remove them, how to clean/store them, when to change to a new pair (according to what kind he/she prescribes, etc. Be sure to ask any questions you may have; the eye doctor is there to help you.

It can take up to 2 weeks for some people to adjust to wearing contacts, but once you've gotten used to them, you will most likely love them!

It depends what type you have, I use disposables and throw them out every 2 weeks. I am also a bit lazy with cleaning so I get a 'no rub' solution where I don't have to clean them at all I just soak them over night and they are fine, I have never had a problem with them. I try and only wear them for about 12 hours a day.

it's different for every contact set.
mine are one-day contacts which are amazing. i just throw them out when done.

yours probably change every two weeks or so.
use a clean case, with a big bottle of cleaner and change it every time you open it. rub the contacts in your palm with the cleaner. carry eye drops.

but don't worry you're eye doctor will tell you all of this

Ok, first of all, this is only for the monthly contacts (not disposable) which are the ones you can wear for a month. Heres what i do and i havent had any problems:
In the morning, i put it on AFTER a shower, never during, because the heat dries them out. Than i go on with my life, and its best to wear them as little as possible, because its better not to wear them, so i take them off when i come home from school and i have no where to go. make sure you have glasses. WASH YOUR HANDS <<very important. Ok, so when you take them off, personally i like to move them towards my nose and they pop out. than maybe wash them a little with the solution, and put them into the case with a good amount of solution. the case has a slot for your right and left eye. Oh, and sometimes, your eye might burn like crazy, it goes away after a few minutes, but make sure your ready for that :p. Hope ive helped, and remember, never put dirty fingernails on them, it leads too many problems. :)
