Laser eye surgery quesions that haven't been asked before here...?!

Question: Greetings~
I'm getting custom intralasik eye surgery in two weeks from now. These questions are directed at people who have experienced the procedure.
POST-OPERATIVE CARE:
1) Do not take showers for at least one week, take baths instead. Question: Can I carefully wash my hair, or is it too risky?
2) Humidity levels/air quality- would it be beneficial for me to purchase a humidifier OR an air purifier? I live in an apartment building where the air can be dry, and the hallways can be a bit stinky. Is it worth it to buy either of these appliances?

Thanks. I'm getting this surgery so my vision can be up to standard of police forces' requirements. Otherwise I'd never in a million years get it done.

I'm terrified! I'm going to ask my doctor these questions but I'd like a little bit of insight first. Thanks in advance!

Almost all laser eye surgeries are unique to each patient and it is important to have a good relationship with your ophthalmologist. They can help ease your fears and answer your questions both pre and post operative. I too was terrified. The staff was wonderful. Your recovery will dictate what is necessary for a successful experience and what you will need.

I live in an extremely humid climate and did not need a humidifier. I needed a good pair of sunglasses. I showered and washed my hair the next evening but was advised not to rub my eyes, gently pat dry. Check out http://laser-eye-surgery-advice.com a web site that takes a comprehensive look at the eye surgery procedure.

As for your fear and anxiety, you'll be given a Valium to help relax you before the surgery.

Good luck to you, I think you'll be glad you did it.

If I were you, I would ask my doctor to explain everything about this surgery. You do not have to be shy because later you will ask him why he did not explain you everything.Go ahed and do this.
If you have any parent who has glaucoma, tell him.

Following any advice here could be different than what your Dr. would have said.

Your Dr. that will be doing it is the one responsible for giving you all the info you need.

You can't be expected to know, so ask him.
