What kind of contacts can you wear overnight?!

Question: ok, I asked my opthamologist for contacts that you can sleep in. My mom uses them. He perscribed me "purevision" contacts, made by baush and lomb, and told me I could wear them day and night for 30 days. So I wore them overnight, it was fine. Five nights, still fine. Then, they started to get uncomfortable. By the seventh day, they hurt, so I took them out, and my eyes burned. I tried a week later, terribly uncomfortable. Now I just take them out at night and wear them like normal contacts. I've been doing this for a few months, but I was talking to my mom, and she uses a different brand, "night and day." I'm wondering, are the purevision contacts actually made for wearing overnight? Did my doctor make a mistake? I'll be pretty irritated if he did. Its about time to get more contacts (I had a six month supply) and I want to get the right ones. The problem with a lot of contacts is that I have an astigmatism, so I need toric lenses. So my point is, can you sleep in purevision lenses?

The Purevision Toric is a 30 day disposable lens...but meant for daily wear, NOT for sleeping in.

Unless you are a fireman or paramedic, or some emergency sevice that has to be ready on a moments notice...there is NO reason to sleep with contacts on.

Your chances of infections and corneal ulcers increase dramatically by sleeping in them.

Even though a few brands have been approved for sleeping in, the vast majority of Dr's disagree.

Those of us who work all day seeing patients who abuse contacts know the facts.

Approved for sleeping or not, those who do it continually all end up paying for it.

Stay safe...take 15 seconds and take the darn things out and let your corneas get some rest.

Purevision can be wore over nite. The problem might be that the user has to have a eye check after a nite of wearing it cos no lenses are actually good to stay in eyes for long hrs and for days to 30days. Not a lot of user have actually being able to wear it for 30days. The nite and day is only the material thats is differnent for purevision. Yes both lenses are approved for wearing up to 30 days without the care for lenses.

contacts lenses like purevision are approved by fda for overnight wear. but try not to do so please. no matter how godd the lens is, it is still not safe...
