Stories/thought on lazer eye surgery?!?!?!

Question: It is absolutely life changing and, for me, was well worh the money ($4k). It is a shame that insurance won't cover it though. Painless, 24hr recovery.

I personally have never had it, but I have considered it before. Most people say its life changing. Most people say that because of a positive outcome but there are many people who have lifelong complications because of it. If your going to do it then I would highly recommend finding a doctor who is reputable, has done thousands of procedures, and is caring who knows how to handle any possible complications that could occur. I've been kinda scared away by the whole thing because of websites like http://www.lifeafterlasik.com/lasikcompl...

There are claims that the flap never heals, contrast sensitivity is always decreased, and Higher order abberations are increased even with wavefront technology. I hear many people who agree and disagree with those claims and would like to know the truth before undergoing lasiks! In this case its a game of who do you trust. The doctors who are selling you the treatment, or the people who are angry from a botched job. Its hard to say.

Personally I am going to try contacts first as they are more guarantee and less likely to alter my vision permanently. I hate wearing glasses all the time and if contacts don't work out I'll be really tempted to do lasiks. At that point it would be "to see or not to see"!

mine would have cost $4000 (wavefront lasik)

I was gonna do it but im glad I didn't, i canceled two days before my operation... they would have really overcorrected me due to a mistake in when they were taking my perscription.. plus I have large pupils and my prescription changed in the last year...
I guess I went to a bad place (Lasik MD in Toronto) because they didn't tell me ANYTHING!

My eyes are even already a little dry and I had to ask for eye drops for part of the exam, they simply just gave me the drops and didnt warn about the severe dry eye problems people with already dry eye experience after lasik ...

anyways i pray everyday for thanks that I didn't do it :) because I would have been about a diopter over-corrected plus would have likely seen halos and had dry eyes because of my pupil size and pre-existing dry eyes!

you mite be fine tho, i dont know what your story is... a VAST majority of people are fine... just be very careful with the pre-op, find out everything they are supposed to check and make sure they do it!! that was my issue!!! :P

Maybe I will try again in many years when the technology gets MUCH better
