Anyone wear contacts?!

Question: I went to the eye doctor on Friday and he prescribed me contact lenses. I've never worn them or glasses before so its totally new! I had a VERY VERY hard time getting them in and out (its harder for me to get them in than out). Once they are in, I can feel them and they drive me crazy! It almost feels like there is a stray eyelash in my eye! I can only put up with them for 4-6 hours at a time and then I have to take them out. Granted, its only been 36 hours since I got them, but they are driving me nuts! Will I ever get used to them? Has anyone else gone through the same thing for the first few days, and then was fine?

Yes, you should get used to them. It can take some people up to 2 weeks for their eyes to adjust to wearing contacts, so just give yourself time to make the adjustment before giving up on contacts. Most people love them once they've gotten used to them.

You will also get used to inserting/removing them with practice. It can be frustrating at first, but no one learned how to do it perfectly overnight. The more you do it, the better you will get. You can also buy these helpful little tools if you think it'd make it easier for you...contact lens inserter/remover tools:

You can also try some eye drops that are made for use while wearing contacts. That helps out with the discomfort a lot of times. Discomfort can oftentimes come from your eyes being too dry, and the drops will help remedy that by adding some extra moisture. You also need to make sure the contacts are very clean; a tiny piece of debris can cause major discomfort!

I went through the same type things for a few days when I first got my contacts, but it did go away after my eyes got used to them; now it feels like I'm not even wearing them even when I am.

If you wear them 2 weeks, and the symptoms are still there, go back and see your eye doctor. He/she may want you to try a different brand or type of contacts.

i used to hate them, but now i can't live without them. i don't feel them at all. just keep practicing putting them in and taking them out. if you can feel them, they could be backwards or be dry.

If it stings or one eye feels a little scratchy, try taking it out, rinsing with solution, and putting it back in to see how it feels.

For me, at first, my contacts felt weird, like there was a stray eyelash, but after a while you'll get used to them, don't worry!

contact lenses may seem difficult to put in at first, but in a couple months youll be a pro at it. its actually very simple.

of course they are going to feel weird at first. your eyes need time to adjust to having something in your eye all the time. my suggestion is not to get colored contacts (if you want them) and stick with the clear ones. colored contacts feel heavier on your eyes and are more difficult to adjust to. but it wont take long for you to adjust to contact lenses. pretty soon, youll even forget that youre wearing them.

contacts bugged me a lot at first, but dont worry ^_^ they do get better. just try to keep them in for a bit longer so you can have more time to get adjusted to them. and try to keep your mind off them and think of something else.

Yes. I had that problem. Contacts are usually difficult to get in an d out the first couple days. Give your contacts about a week and half to adjust to your eyes, and for your eyes to adjust to them. If they're still uncomfortable go back to your eye doctor and tell him/her your problem.

Change contact brands!!!
It makes a world of difference when you find the right one.
(you are sure you aren't putting them in your eye inside-out, right?)

yeah there are a lot of different reasons why they are bothering you...

ok first of all take them out and check to see if they are on inside out. if they are, it will def. feel exactly how you described. if its bowl shaped then they are not inside out, but if its like a flower going outward then they are. but if they aren't inside out then put them back in solution and make sure they have nothing on them and they are not ripped.

at first its always gonna feel weird cuz you are not used to them but you should be used to them within like a couple days or so. the type of contacts you have might not be good for you so you could talk to ur eye doctor about getting a new kind that are more comfortable. i hope this helped haha.

give it a week and if it still isn't working tell your doctor you want glasses
