Why are my eyes irrating me so much with contact lenses?!

Question: i cant wear my contacts very long anymore. I rest my eyes for 3 days. put them on the 4th for 6 hours, take them off because i look like a vampire and rest them for more three days. why is this happening to me? even when using new ones for the first time. Coud using Visine to speed up the clear eyes have anything to do with it.?

Could be a reaction to the contact solution, and/or you may be experiencing some dryness with the contacts. Try some moisturizing eye drops that are safe for use while wearing contacts. You can also try a different solution, maybe one that will help the contacts retain moisture while you are wearing them. Two good ones for that are Alcon Opti-Free RepleniSH, and CibaVision Aquify. I used to experience a good bit of dryness and irritation until I changed solutions. Both of the ones I listed work great, but the Aquify seems to work just a little better for me. It has worked so well that I rarely have to use eye drops anymore when I've got my contacts in.

I wouldn't use too much of the Visine...it could make it better, or it could make things worse.

Try changing solutions, and/or some contact-safe eye drops, and see if that helps. If it doesn't, maybe go back and see your eye doctor. He/she may want you to try a different brand or type of contacts.

I had a similar problem a couple of months ago. I needed to change my contact solution. I used RENU for years to clean my lenses. My eye doctor (ophthalmologist) who I was referred to told me to switch cleaning solutions. And the problems went away. It seems I developed an allergy to the solution.
I don't know if this is your problem or not. Good Luck!

That does sound like an intolerance to the solution you are using. The same solution can work fine for years, then suddenly not work for you anymore.

Don't get in the habit of using Visine too often...it can make the problem you are trying to fix, even worse with too much use.

Try a new solution when you start off with a new pair of lenses..
