A bright light floats across the top of my vision occasionally is this serious?!

Question: A few months ago I went to the doctor because of a dark spot in my vision . They told me it was a "birthmark-like" spot in my eye and was not serious. Im a teenager so I dont think its aging. Any ideas?

The occasional floater is normal and nothing to worry about. But, flashes of light accompanied by floaters can be the sign of a retinal detachment or tear. I'd definitely see an ophthalmologist or optometrist to get a second opinion.

I agree with Alicia L. I'd see an Ophthalmologist to be on the safe side. Eye problems are nothing to fool around with

Any time you have a problem go see a specialist!

Why take a chance!

You should be fine. I have several floaters from an injury 2 months ago. It's very difficult to get a retina detachment/tear, I had a very serious injury that caused me to have to have surgery, and I only have a scar on my retina.
Hope I helped!
