Are contact better then glasses and why? Best detailed answer with personal expe!

Question: I've been wearing glasses for 20 years and contact lenses of different types for 14. While I would hate to have one without the other, wearing contacts fits my lifestyle better. I have a stronger prescription, and I have actually spent more on glasses (frames and high index lenses with AR coating) than on a year's worth of contacts.

Contacts are great for showing the world the whole you without glasses being in the way. Colored contacts can give you a whole new look. They are less of a hassle when you're out playing sports, and as another person pointed out, they are easier when you're kissing. Contacts also give you better peripheral vision, so you have a larger range of vision. Contacts don't fog up and you won't have to constantly take them off to wipe fingerprints or smudges like you do with glasses. You can also wear them with non-prescription sunglasses, so you won't necessarily need prescription ones. Putting on makeup is easier with contacts, especially if you're like me where trying to put on makeup without contacts or glasses will result in me looking like a jacked-up clown!

However, glasses are still important to have. If you have eye allergies, you may not be able to wear your contacts on certain days. Also, it's a good idea to wear glasses at night time when you're contacts are being disinfected in solution. Glasses are essential when working with chemicals, such as in a chemistry lab. Also, glasses can be stylish. Even if you have a sronger prescription, high index lenses can make your lenses thinner and lighter. There are endless varieties of designer frames on the market, and a proper professional fitting along with lighter lenses can eliminate things like pain on the bridge of the nose and on the ears.

Bottom line: I think contact lenses are better than glasses. I like the range of vision better, especially for things like driving where glare can be an issue. But, no matter what, glasses are essential, even if they're just for reading before bed. It's always good to have a backup.

yes. They work the same and you dont look shitt y

well. . .
getting contacts means you won't loose them as easly, no need for the funny look of some glasses, easier to get used to, and no worrie of them breaking.
cons are that they can cause eye infections if you do not take care of them, and it takes a little while to put it, and you have to remember to take them out at the right time.
i personally like contacts better.

I like contacts better because they don't fog up. They're less likely to get knocked off your face, or just fall off when you look down. I like the way I look without glasses much much better. I have RGP contacts and see better with contacts than I do glasses also.

I much prefer contacts simply because it creates less obstruction.

With glasses you have a limited field of vision (the lens) and you have to worry about knocking them off. I, personally, have a habit of knocking them off my face when making quick movements or even swatting at a fly.

Not to mention glasses can rub your skin raw at times or give you red marks from where they sit. My old ones used to saw on top of my ears and actually made me bleed.

So in general I think glasses are just unnecessary.

i have glasses i tryed contacts and i hated them .. you have to wash them and keep them clean.. take them out b4 bed and b4 a shower or swimming.. they get knocked out of place or fall out easily. if you get anything in your eye it almost always gets under them. also they dry out if its windy... you have to keep track of which one is right and left. they can get tUrned inside out. and last of all they only last a short time.

glasses are way better they keep stuff out of ur eyes... and they last a long time.... and there harder to damage or lose.

well i used contacts for a year and it was a lot of maintenance.
so I'm back on glasses and love it. I only use contacts on special occasions.

You may as well get Lacik (sp?) surgery as contacts if it's looks you're concerned with. Contacts afford no protection, either: I've seen colleagues get eye injuries, not the least of which was a hot splatter. I'm well protected with glasses but I imagine I'll get with the century and do Lacik one of these days. F2

I like contacts better because as a female, I think I look more beautiful with it. I can put on makeup, mascara, etc. and the whole face is seen. With glasses, your face is partially covered. Also, when your nose gets oily, glasses will keep sliding down and it is a pain to push them back up. When it is raining or snowing, it sucks to have glasses because it'll get foggy, you have to wipe them, etc. Also, glasses can sometimes leave red marks/indentations on the side of your nose. Sometimes when you wear your glasses too long, the sides of your ears gets painful. If you are in a fast moving place or high up in the air, or in a carnival ride, your glasses might fall down. If you are in a fight, and someone punches and breaks your glasses and you have REALLY bad eyesight, you are dead. Contacts - no problems with all that! Also supposedly glasses degrade your vision because of the space between your eyes and glasses. Contacts supposedly not since it is extremely close to your eyes. Contacts are the best! You can also change your eye color which is great.

it depends on the person, some people look lovely in glasses, i dont, so i got contact lenses but i have had loads of eye infections and irisitus which really hurts and you cant look at any light at all. you have to weight up the odds really. if you think you look nicer with out glasses and really want contact lenses then go for it but if not then i wouldnt bother.

Contacts are SO much better than glasses for both cosmetic reasons and for comfort. I don't like having the weight on my face due to glasses. They fog up when you go from the cold outdoors and into a warm house, they slid down your nose.

I prefer to have people see my eyes instead of have glasses cover them up. With contacts I can play sports more easily, have my make up show more. Theyre very easy to take care of. You just need to take them out at night, soak them in solution, and they're ready for the next day.

Also, I think it's kind of awkward to kiss with glasses on. So yeah, contacts are 39857927594 times better for many reasons.

I say it depends on the person. for me contacts---
#1) they are easy to take care of once you get the hang of it.
#2) no need for a look transformation (as with glasses)
#3) you can't even feel them! unlike the glasses slipping down our noses every two seconds!
#4)You don't have to wipe them off when they fog up or whatever
#5) They are easier in bad weather (ex. snow, rain, foggy, etc.)
#6) They are really easy to wear for sports.

But there is down falls----
Have to clean them and KEEP them clean.
they can SOMETIMES irritate the eye..

and if any more is needed, contact me!
GOOD LUCK! hope i helped ?
