For contact users.....?!

Question: I put my contacts on this morning, and they were fine the first five minutes. Then, they burned. Not much at first, but now it's terrible. I just got them yesterday, and had to try them on, and all was well.
I've tried massaging them and using eyedrops, but nothing is working. I can't keep my eyes open long enough to take them out, either.
It's been an hour and a half ago, and it still burns. What should I do?

You may need to change contact solutions...some people do have more sensitive eyes, and the solution can sometimes cause their eyes to burn like that. You could go buy new solution, or just could just continue to use the current one you have along with a saline solution (also found in the same section as the contact stuff in stores). Just soak your contacts as you do normally, but when you get ready to wear them again, rinse them off with the saline solution before inserting them. The saline is a lot more gentle on the eyes, so it shouldn't burn. Also, make sure that the contact lenses (and your hands) are very clean before you put the contacts in...sometimes the tiniest piece of debris can really irritate your eyes.

I'd also recommend calling your eye doctor (phone calls are always free), to see if he/she has any recommendations. They may even want to see you again, just to make sure there isn't a problem with your eyes.

from experience you need to get them out and quickly, if your eyes dont ease after that go and see your doctor, i had a similar problem only a few weeks back , turned out i had eye ulcers can no longer wear my contacts

Make sure your hands are clean before handling them, there may be a bit of dust on them. You must try to remove them and give them a good clean with the solution. Don't use any eye drops that are not for contact users. Look up when inserting them and close your eyes and move your eyeballs from left to right then up and down a few times to get rid of any trapped air bubbles. If this problem keeps occurring, go back to the opticians as you may have an allergy

you may have an eye infection...never masage your contacts while in your eye. this can bring on an eye infection if you have contaminints in your eyes, you spread it.. Go to your eye doctor, he will prescribe antibiotic drops, you won't be wearing contacts until it clears up. And dispose of the pair you have in, if you use them again you will reinfect your eyes. If they were hard contacts however, and you masaged them, you could have scratched the lens of your eye..see your eye doctor.

You need to take them out. Something is irritating your eyes and it won't get better. Try a different brand of solution and see your optometrist if it persists.

Just read my blog on contact lens an article by a doctor, which I think may be useful. Get well soon http://contactlense4eyes.blogspot.com/

You haven't really given enough details. How many times have you used the lenses before? What solution do you use, which lenses do you use, do you have any other symptoms like blurred vision?

It could be your solution. You could be allergic to it but it is more likely that you've used peroxide solution and you haven't allowed it to neutralise before putting the lenses in. Does your case have a black disc in the bottom or do you have to use tablets that you drop into the case? If yes, read your solution instructions and make sure you are using it correctly.

You could have an infection- like an ulcer. The contact lenses will rub the ulcer and make it more noticeable.

You should really take your lenses (in the case- not your eye) to your contact lens optician and get them to check you- only they can give you an answer. Your eyes are precious and some problems can cause long-lasting or permanent damage so get it checked to be sure.
