Complete Multi-Purpose Solution?!

Question: I got a 60ml bottle of Complete Multi-Purpose Solution for my contacts and after researching, I found out that Complete MoisturePlus solution was recalled last year due to eye infections that can cause blindness. Should I still trust this brand?

Also, I have another bottle of contact lens solution around my house. The thing is that the optometrist told me that I should throw them away after 45 days. However, the bottle says 90 days. Which do I follow?

follow the bottle's instructions. there are many brands of multi purpose solution and 45 days might just be a general recommendation but not a fixed rule for ALL the solutions. as for complete, it was recalled last year. if you had just bought it it should be the new batch that they have come up with so it should be safe.

did you keep the reciept? because if you did u can always go confirm this with the store

Just to clarify.. Complete was a VOLUNTARY recall last year. They were not required to remove themselves off the shelves, but due to the nature of the infection and the possible implication, they thought it best to remove their product. What the CDC did not clarify was that Complete was named as ONE of the possible contaminated solutions. The other solutions were implicated, but Complete seemed to have the most noteworthy. And in fact, after reading the CDC article, they did not actually take the bottle of the solutions from the infected patients, but they asked for the patient to recall what solution they were using. Most of us don't remember things well enough to assume that these patients were right. Regardless of what you read, just remember to NEVER re-use solution. Always keep your contact lens case clean, and replace the contact lens case every 1-3 months. Try not to store your contact lens case in a humid place like the bathroom (which most of us do). Most solutions actually take a long time to expire, but when in doubt, most solutions cost as much as two extra large lattes from Starbucks.. so just replace it.

Not at all. It has recalled the soultion twice within two years. even it is free now, i would use it. No one will pay u for the damages if there is one. But do use optix free or renu.
Thery are great with lesser problem

Complete wasn't the only brand that was recalled...Bausch and Lombe and quite a few other brands were recalled. I have used Complete since then with no issues...but I've since changed to CibaVision Aquify solution, because it offers a moisture-retaining formula that works better for my eyes.

I don't think you HAVE to throw away contact solution unless it is expired. But then again, none of mine even gets close to the expiration date before it's gone...I go through contact solution about every 2 weeks!
