Is it worth me trying contact lenses again?!

Question: Hey.
When I was 16 (I'm 17 now), I tried contact lenses, however I had a hard time putting them in. The optician spent about 30 minutes trying to show me. I managed to get them in and out once and then she told me to go home and try them for a week. I spent the week trying them and couldn't get them in at all.

I have really sensitive eyes, meaning my eyes automatically close when I touch them.

I sort of lost faith after this and haven't tried them since, however I am thinking of giving them another chance and a different optician that might be able to give me a little more help.

Is it worth trying again or is it one of these things that if you don't master the first time, you're not going to do it?.

Thanks for any replies. :)

It took me 3 hours to put them in the first time!

I think you should definitely give it another try!

Everyones eye automatically closes when we touch it. It is a natural response because the eye is not meant to have something shoved in it! It's is all a matter of practice, practice and practice and you will get the hang of it in no time.

Just hold your eye lids opened as wide as you can with your fingers, and place the contact on your eye ball. Once it is on, do not take your finger out right away (cause usually the contact comes right out with it). Move the contact lens around in gentle circles around your eye ball, this will help the lens to suction on to your eye.

Usually no one masters this the first time! believe me, been there!

Best of luck to you!

when i got my contacts it took me a HOUR to get them in the first time
i have really sensitive eyes
and it just takes practice to get them in.
practice holding your top lid with your left middle finger. and then use your right middle finger and hold the top lid. put the contact on your right index finger but make sure you are holding your lids tight so they cant move
just practice you will be fine

It is really tricky to get them in right, especially when your natural instinct is to flinch your eyes when something pokes at them.

A week is not very long to get used to doing this. But once you get good at it, you will probably love the clearer sight you'll have with contacts.

It is easy after you get used to it. Place the contact lens on the tip of your index or middle finger. With the fingers and thumb of your other hand, simultaneously pull up on your upper eyelid and down on your lower eyelid.Position the lens on your eye while looking upward or forward. Roll your eyes in a complete circle to help the lens settle, then blink. For all details, information and remedies about contacts check out http://use-contactlens.blogspot.com/
