If you are extremely bad at touching your eye, the last resort would be asking your doctor for anesthetic drops for the first time you put them on to get your started. (They will numb your eye so that way it won't be sensitive to touch)

But you will have to get use to putting on the contacts without any help.

What you can do is take small steps, first, just hover your finger very close to your eye to get it used to something being close to it. Touch your eyelashes, etc, until your eyes get used to the idea of something being close to them. (This will help your eyes stay more relaxed and opened).

Next step would be holding your eye lids opened with your fingers and trying to touch the white of your eyes.

And then, try this again with the contact.

Remember, once you get the contact in your eye, do not press to hard nor too soft. Move it around the eye ball to let any air bubbles out. This will help it to suction on to your eye ball.

You get used to it.

I feared this too. The best thing you can do is make sure the contact is completely clean. Then, you just have to suck it up and stick it in your eye. If the contact is clean, with no tears, then it wont hurt in your eye, and it will make adjusting to having things touch your eye that much easier. Each time it will get a little easier for you to do it, until it doesnt bother you at all.

Good luck!!

If you keep calm you'll be fine... if you flinch it could get twisted and stuck.

Yeah, you have to get used to it because there is no removal tool or something like that. I use contacts and it was very hard for me to take them off the first days, but after a week, everything became easy. Make sure you have your hands clean before having contact with your eyes. Don't sleep with your contact lenses.

you really aren't "touching" your eye.
you're actually just letting the contacts make its
way into your eye.

Here are a few tips on putting in contacts:

Before you put your hands on your contacts, you should make sure that you clean your hands thoroughly, and that you dry them off. Once your hands are clean, put the contact lens on your index finger.

Next, place a drop of solution in the center of the lens. Now, use your other hand and pull down your lower eye lid with your thumb then look up with the eye you will be inserting the contact lens into.

Take your index finger with the contact on it and place it into your eye. Do not close your eye immediately, rather leave it open a few seconds to let the contact settle. After a few seconds, close your eye and your contact should be perfectly in place.

If it feels uncomfortable, take it out and try again. It may take you a few tries; although the more you put them in the better you will get at it.

i had the same problems!!! i have contacts now so i got used to it. i just practiced touching the white parts of my eyes and it helped. if you go to ur eye doctors and r trying them on, just DO NOT think about it too much like- o my gosh im touching my eyeball!!!- and youll be fine:)

I had a very hard time with it at first too. But you DO get used to it, I promise lol.

Personally, I've found it MUCH easier to use two hands instead of just one. It makes the process faster and easier so you don't have to focus on your hands near your eyes so much... (It's hard to explain my method, so maybe try doing it as you read).

[I'm right handed, you can switch hands if you're a lefty]. Put your contact in your palm and rub it off with some solution to make sure it's clean -your hands should be clean too obviously. Put the contact on your right middle finger and put 1-2 drops of liquid on it (this makes it MUCH easier to put in). I then use my left hand to hold my eye open (middle finger on upper cheek bone and index finger holding eye open by holding my eye lashes up towards my eye brow) so I can't blink. Then I slowly put the contact to my eye while staring straight ahead (but don't focus directly on the contact, look ahead at a wall or something). It should stick there on it's own. Wait a second or two and then blink. Blot excess solution with a tissue.

Many people do it many different ways. Keep trying different methods and see what works best for you. But no matter what you do, don't think about it too much. Don't look at it as touching your eye (since your finger isn't actually coming in direct contact with your eye anyway), just think of it as what you need to do to in order to see well for the rest of the day, lol. Focus more on your hands and what they're doing than on what your eye is going to feel like.

They recently started making contacts that you can put in and leave in for like, a week or two. That might be a better option for you if you really have a hard time putting them in and taking them out... Then you only need to go near your eye twice every one or two weeks rather than twice a day, everyday... Ask your eye doctor for some samples.

Good luck! Once you get used to using them, you will LOVE wearing them instead of your glasses. I promise. It just takes practice getting used to the feeling and the process...

i thought at first that contacts would b hard 2, but u just grab ur contact, make sure that it is shaped like a bowl, and pull up ur eyelid, and pop it in. ur optometrist shuld show u how 2 do this
