Reflection of own eye in my new glasses?!

Question: I just got a new pair of glasses and in a variety of different lighting, I can see a reflection of my own eyeball. I don't have anti-glare coating, but I didn't on my old pair of glasses either and didn't have the same problem. Anyone have any ideas why I can see my own eyes in this new pair? I'm wondering if its the type of glass they used for the lense ...

Some lens materials have more reflections than others, particularly "high index" materials that are used to make the lenses thinner. The only good way to eliminate the problem is to have an anti-reflection coating added. The new pair may sit closer or further from your face than the old pair - try getting them adjusted to sit differently - it might help a little.

It has nothing to do with the different lens material...ALL lenses have reflection and produce glare when lights are reflected off the front and back side of the lens. I used to see the reflection of my eye and lashes in my sunglasses and it drove me nuts...so now I have a backside anti-reflective coating put on my sunglasses every time I get a new pair.

I don't know why you're noticing the reflection of your eye in these new glasses, but the only way to eliminate it is to have the anti-reflective coating put on them. Perhaps your old ones did have it and you were not aware of it??? All of my glasses have the anti-reflective coating on; so do my husband's and my mother's. Its a great coating! Ask for Crizal or Zeiss products. These anti-reflective coatins are more durable than "no name brand" coatings...cheap AR coats scratch and peel off easily. Its far more worth it to spend the extra chingy and get the good durable coatings that will hold up.
