Why is there an expiry date on contact lens'?!

Question: Does it have to do with the lens itself or the fluid in the packaging ?

If the expiry date is just for the original fluid, can I use new fluid to extend the expiry date ?

As long as the package is still closed, the solution will be good up to the expiry date. It is the solution that expires, not the lens.

If you open it past the expiry date, your lens will still be good, if it is within a reasonable time after the expiry, and no fungus has started to grow of course within the packaging or on the lens.

Use new soloution to disinfect them again overnight, and they are as good as new.

If it is something like 6 months past the expiry date, you are safer just to throw them away.

For both. Dont re-use
