Do you have to wear glasses full-time before you can wear contacts?!

Question: MY doctor told me that I have to wear glasses full time for 3 months before i can get contacts, which makes no sense becuase i want to get contacts so i DONT have to wear glasses. I'm 13 btw.
Do all doctors do this, or is mine just weird?

"Full time " isn't an obvious requirement, unless there is something unusual about your eyes or their binocular coordination that makes it a good idea. Possible, but not usual.

More common would be to try the glasses first, to see if you *only* need to use them occasionally: in which case going to contact lenses might be, at this point, an over-the-top answer.

But back-up glasses are a firm, firm, recommendation.
It stops you wearing contacts too long, or on days when your eyes are telling you they don't want contacts, because you have another option.

Too many times I've had people with a slight eye infection, and no back up-glasses, asking what they're going to do for the next week or so, without the contacts...

mine set me up for an appointment when i asked im 13 too so i just go them yesterday there really nice since i have been wearing glasses for 6 yrs now.......lol

no i went straight to contacts... and i went to my eye doctor and he said it was fine i Never used my glasses and when you get contacts they are going to be irritating for the first like week and its going to take forever to get them on but i think you see better in contacts then in glasses...

no i don;t thnik so

I don't think so. Before I got contacts I hardly ever wore my glasses so it was no where near full time. I got them like you so I wouldn't have to deal with glasses.
