Would Laser eye surgery correct my vision?!

Question: Hi i am under the age of 20 and i have a strong +6 something diopter prescription in both eyes...

Which is the best type of Laser treatment for me and would it get me perfect vision 20/20 ...20/15 with eyesight like mine?

How old should i be before having it done and are there any serious side effects like blindness? How common are the side effects, how safe is the treatment and is it painless?
Is it a permanent treatment that will give me lasting perfect sight?
Being 18 am i elegible for the treatment?

All comments appreciated... Please give me your storys of successes and failures if there are any cases like this.... ?

I work at an optometry office and we do pre and post ops for lasik. All of your questions depend on your eyes. If you have astigmatism then it may not be correctable to 20/20 it just depends on the amount of astigmatism you have or don't have. A +6.00 is pretty bad but it may be correctable to 20/20. But your vision COULD start to get bad again and you may even need glasses again in the future and you will definitely need readers when you get older as will everyone. i have seen alot of patients and i have never heard anyone who wasn't happy and havent seen any problems yet. But call the Doctor who does it cause the one we have here has free seminars once a week and will evaluate and let someone know if they are a candidate or not and the probable success rate for your specific vision. No it does not hurt and literally only takes about 30 sec to complete .

I just got lazik a year ago and I love it..i had a really bad stigmatizm in my right eye and it came back but the place i got mine done gives you two yrs to have surgery again for free to correct it if it didnt work the first time..im getting my right eye redone..its painless and i LOVE it..i got it done when i was 21..i highly recommed it..good luck

no one on this site can answer that question correctly
you need to go to an eye clinic and let them look at your eyes
they will be the ones to tell you if it can be done or not
it can only be done by examination , some can be done and some cannot only the examination will tell

Both my brother and I had lasix done. My brother about 5 years ago. I had it about 2. The only regret I have is that I didnt do it sooner. My vision had to have stabilised for a couple of years before I could be a candidate. I was a bit apprehensive about it because there is a risk of blindness (which is very low but still a risk) and other side affects but I never had any. Only your surgeon can tell you if your a candidate. No matter what the difference in cost only go to someone with an exceptional reputation. If they recommend you dont get it done dont find someone who will.

yes it would

I have looked into this. My ophthalmologist (more schooling than your general optometrists) said that your vision really needs to have stabilized, and recommended waiting until your late 20s. Otherwise your eyes could change after the surgery and mess up the results. But check with your doctor about it now, they will know the specifics of your case better.
