My eyes. I have flashing lights around my eyes?!

Question: Recently, I've been experiencing some light flasing around my eyes. I've worn glasses since i was 3 years old. I'm now 37. I'm a type 1 diabetic. I don't have high blood pressure. If anything that is low. My diabetes have been in pretty good control. I don't know what could be causing this. I do have an appointment with my eye dr next month.

Is it like prisms? and colourful? It could be an experience you get before getting a migraine. Sometimes people get this and don't get a migraine though. It's a classic symptom.

Kind of a nice break in the day, isn't it!

it could be the diabetes but
i dont have it and ive experienced the same thing.
it happens to me when ive been siiting for a while
and i stand up
i get dizzy and litteraly go blind for
a few seconds then my ears start to feel really hot.
i haven't really checked with a doctor
but its more than likely blood pressure.

High blood glucose levels can cause the blood vessels in your retina to weaken or burst. Over time this can scar up and eventually can pull on your retina and lead to retinal detachment. Since the main sign of retinal detachment is flashes of light, and you're at a higher than normal risk, you should see your optometrist immediately. You need to call tomorrow and ask to schedule a walk in. Tell them your problem and they'll see you.

My daughter is having the same symptoms and sometimes she gets dizzy. She has always used glasses since she started school. She went to her internist that sent her to an ophthalmologist and everything was ok. Now she has to see a neurologist and she might have to have an MRI. Her grandpa was diabetic but she is not? She is so worried. You might have to see your doctor sooner because this "stuff" doesn't go away. Hope they can figure out what is causing this.
