Can people with glass eyes cry?!

Question: Just wondering if losing an eye has anything to do with the function of a tear duct.

Answers: Just wondering if losing an eye has anything to do with the function of a tear duct.

Yes. They can cry.

In most cases where the globe (eye ball) is removed for medical reasons, the conjunctiva (translucent skin of the eye) is actually left behind and covers the inner implant. Tears are produced by the Lacrimal gland which is found near the upper outer rim of the bony orbit (eye sockets) and the accessory lacrimal glands which are found in the conjunctiva and eye lids. These structures are usually NOT removed and thus individuals with glass eyes can STILL cry.

why do you care? plan on loosing an eye anytime soon??

((and yes, yes they can))

It's actually the tear gland and removing the eye will cause the tear gland to atrophy so there will be not tears.
