I just took my contact lens off and my eye hurts what should i do?!

It depends on your symptoms. If you have tearing, pain or sensativity to light, try to see your OD or leave him a phone message. DO NOT wear your contacts until you talk to him. There are several possibilities, 1> you scratched your eye, 2> your lens has something imbedded in it or it is damaged, 3> you have a possible infection. In no case should you put those lenses back in until you talk with your eye doc. If you have some rewetting drops or purified water, you can flush your eye with that and see if it helps NO VISINE! Your doctor will tell you what is best to do. Wear your glasses until you get this resolved and good luck to you. I'm a contact lens tech and optician. Hope this was helpful.

hey listen---i also do wear lenses---its just when u wear it or take it off----b sure that ur hands r clean.and if ur not sure then wash it properly b-4 touching the lenses on ur eye or in its box--i mean where u keep ur lenses after taking it off----its the only reason
Have you scratched the lens whilst putting it in or taking it out? Did you put it in properly?
Also are you clean?
You may have an eye infection. I would leave them out for 24 hours and if the pain is still there or worsens then go to Eye casualty.
