I would have to agree with flying dragon. Its about 50/50 and its probably not worth worrying about. I would have to say that theres evidence that both of those myths could have some backup though. On the one side theres studies that show that myopic blur can enhance myopia. Basically from people who don't wear there glasses. Other studies show too much accomidation stress caused by glasses increase myopia. Thats probably the rational basis for those theories although these studies lack evidence and persuasiveness for most MD's to accept.

Personally I felt the same way when I got new glasses and my vision got worse soon after. On the other hand I used to not wear glasses and my vision got worse about as fast. Bah, either way your gonna lose vision at least one way you can see!

About half the people seem to think if you DO wear your glasses, you vision will get worse. the other half think if you DON'T wear your glasses, your vision will get worse! Actually, whether you wear your glasses or not, it will not alter the rate at which your vision changes. So, go ahead and wear them!

It depends what your optometrist says. but really u shouldn't wear them all the time cuz your eyes get lazy

If you are nearsighted, then wear them when you need to look at distant objects. If you are farsighted, then use them for near objects. If you have a high amount of astigmatism, you may want to consider full time wear because objects at any distance can be blurry.

Consult your doctor and ee what he/she says about it.

Someone should tell your parents they need to get educated.

They are depriving you of better vision because of their misinformed beliefs ?

That is ridiculous in this day and age.

Your parents must be right. I've been wearing glasses since high school 30 years or more ago, and now I can't read without glasses.
