Question: Relax. If you are corrected to 20/20 with a -12.00 that should not be a problem

Answers: Relax. If you are corrected to 20/20 with a -12.00 that should not be a problem

What difference does the power make, as long as you can read the chart etc. and don't need a guide dog, you should be ok.

corrected vision is fine, don't worry

As long as yor reading at least a 20/25 you should pass, unless your vision has changed since the last exam.

If you can see well wearing either contacts or glasses, the driving test won't be any different. You'll be fine, as long as you wear your contacts or glasses.

Here's a way to look at it.

People that are myopic have eyes that are too strong. Not too strong to see, but too strong as far as refraction goes, ability to bend light.

The power of the lens is equal to 1/d where d is in meters.

If a myope had an eye that was too powerful and he was already focused at a meter in front of him, he'd be +1.00 too powerful. So he'd get a -1.00 lens to move that focal point out to distance so he could see clearly at distance.

If he were too powerful so that he was already focused at a half meter in front of him, he'd be +2.00 too powerful, and he'd need a -2.00 lens to correct it.

If he was focused at a third of a meter, +3.00 too powerful, need a -3.00 lens.

quarter of a meter, would need a -4.00 lens.
fifth of a meter, -5.00 lens,
sixth of a meter, -6.00 lens

for you, -12.00 lens works, means you are +12.00 diopters too powerful. but once you put that correcting lens in front of you, the power goes to 'normal' and you see clearly.

Assuming you can drive a car 'right', vision won't be a problem.

The power of your prescription is NOT important. The question that has to be answered is, "How well do you see while wearing your contacts or glasses?" There are different vision requirements in different states and countries. In general if you can read the line labeled 20/40 while wearing corrective lenses then you will be able to obtain an motor vehicle operators license. There are more strict requirements for you to operate commercial vehicles. If your eye doctor has never discussed any reduced vision with you and he was satisfied with the vision that your -12.00 contact lenses provide, then you should be OK.

Note that you will be required to wear corrective lenses while operating a vehicle.

Just make sure you have your contacts on and you'll do fine.

Can pass. Only those who have color blindness.
