Your eyes will know when it is time to change your contacts. The contacts will start to feel gritty like they are always dirty. They also start to blur or seem a little foggy. If you are in doubt how long your contacts have been in, do the safe thing and change out your contacts.

Don't listen to Bridget. I have a lot of patients with the same attitude as hers. We always see most of them coming back in with corneal ulcers from overwearing their contacts. Once you have had a corneal ulcer, I guarantee you won't overwear your contacts again.

Ehh, I just wear mine until they start hurting. I never go by the "change every two weeks" thing. I've worn a single pair for a couple months and not had a problem. You should be fine=)

There is a few days " cushion" after the normal prescribed time for a lens.

Even if it still feels comfortable, a 2 week lens is engineered to give optimal health benefits for 15 or 16 days of wear.

After that, no matter how well they are cleaned, the matrix of the lens has been compromised by the protiens and calcium from your tears, restricting the oxygen flow through the lens.

So every day that you wear them after the 16 or 17 th day, you are slowly depriving your corneas of oxygen.

Some can get away with that abuse for quite awhile before finally paying the price, for others, infections, corneal ulcers corneal infiltrates and other goodies can happen a lot faster...are you a gambler ?

Those who wear them until they hurt are just asking for trouble...and eventually, it will come...it always does.

If you want to wear them a month, get monthly disposables. Monthlies can often be dragged out for 2 or 3 weeks more .

2 week lenses are thinner and they become unhealthy to wear a lot sooner after the prescribed period.
