Contact Lense - Putting in and out - Can't stop blinking!?!

Question: Hey guys,

This may sound odd, but I'm trying to get contact lenses in and out, however my eyes blink like crazy. 3 people, including my optemitrician, have tried showing me how to hold my eyelid open, however it's impossible.

I'm 15 years old, and I'm wondering if I should keep on trying, or if I should just get surgery or something.

It's really hard not to blink, I tried for literally 2 hours with my eye doctor.

Help?

so, i went monday to try contacts. I couldnt stop blinking either. the lady was extremely rude and getting pissed. i couldnt do it. so, i went back today, and i tried it a different way. They tried telling me to hold my top lid open and i couldnt do it like that. What i did, and it was 10 times easier, was pull my bottom lid down and place the contact on the white part on the outside of my eye and when i set it there, i kinda lifted my top lid up a little and move my eye around and then blink a few times and it works like a charm. i jsut got them today and im doing better, im trying to get down taking them out now! good luck, and i know you can do it!

It's all in the mind.

Blinking is a controllable reflex...you just have to control it or forget about contacts...it's as simple as that.

Take a deep breath, relax, and think of what you are doing.

You just open wide, and put the lens on the eye...it's no biggie, and it doesn't hurt.

Practice slowly bringing your finger up to your eye and touching your eyelashes for a few days , until you can do it without blinking...then go try the contacts again.

It's all in your own determination....you can do it !

Practice makes perfect. When I first started wearing contacts, I could barely get them in...I couldn't even use eye drops...My boyfriend had to hold me down and hold my eye open to put them in(I squirmed)...3 days later, it's getting easier...what everyone told me to do was to practice touching your eye(wash your hands first=P) On the side, where the white is...that helped me prepare to get them...Also, I don't think you can get surgery until you're at least 18...
