Is it possible for an optician to prescribe very weak glasses?!

Question: i have been having problems focusing on small print that is close to me so i can read it. what is the weakest lense that an optician will say is available at any time, and even if i have such a small problem with small print, will he still prescribe weak glasses, or just tell me there is nothing wrong with my eyes?

It is not an optician who will give you the prescription. Opticians will make the glasses according to the prescription given by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. The only way to know if you truly need them is to have the exam. I also gave you some thoughts on your other question too.

(don't get the cheap readers as suggested below. They usually only go as low as +1.00 and that may be too strong and give you more trouble)

if it is just for reading, pick up some cheap reading glasses at the store (grocery store, dollar store, pharmacy) and if those don't work then maybe your eyes or worse than you think....have them checked out........they will prescibe whatever it takes to get you 20/20 vision again, even if its j ust a small amount off.........good luck!

How old are you? if you are around 40 or older you may have developed presbyopia. As we age our eyes begin to weaken and small print gets more difficult to read. You can always get cheap readers but I wouldn't recommend them. It is best to see an eye care professional. A lot of people will swear by the readers but inevitably your vision will be best served by a doctor and their staff. That way you will know exactly what prescription you will require ( if any) and the opticians can help you find the best eye wear to suit your needs as well as the most suitable lenses. If you need a prescription Wal-Mart is about the cheapest place to go.
