How do you get rid of what I think may be pink eye?!

Question: I think I have pink eye because my one eye is pink, except I don't have any liquid, pain, or crust around my eye.

Last night I went in a hot tub with contacts on, and one of my friends threw water in my face (I told her not to!), so it got in my eyes. I assume whatever I have is from this.

How long will it take to go away, do I have to only wear glasses, and what can I use to get rid of it?

Probably just an irritation from the chemicals that are used in the water.

Your contacts are probably contaminated now though. It would be safer not to wear the same pair anymore. If it is a minor infection, then your old lenses will just infect you again.

Wear your glasses until it clears up, then start with a new pair of contacts....it will probably just last a day or 2 at the most.

If the eye does start showing signs of an infection, get some Polysporin from a pharmacy...in drops form. That clears it up within a couple of days.

If you have pink eye, you will need a prescription.

Don't put your contacts back in until you find out.

Maybe you should go to an urgent care facility?

Pink eye can show up when you least expect it, and it is very contagious. There is more than one type of pink eye, and how you treat it depends on the type. If it is bacterial you need antibiotic ointment or drops. There is no particular treatment for viral pink eye. If it is an allergy that is causing your difficulty you may need anti-inflammatories or antihistamines. Frequent hand washing is crucial to prevent spreading the virus or bacteria, depending on which type you have. This link gives basic information. Best of luck.
