Why do I have these things?!

Question: Why do I have all these floaties in my eyes. They're starting to get bothersome, it's like I have to try and look around them to see sometimes. They're like little squigly things floating up, down, and sideways in my eyes that obstruct my vision. What the heck is that and is there anything I can do about it?

You need to see an ophthalmologist, as compared to an optometrist. They will only refer you to one anyway. An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who treats disorders and disease of the eye and also does surgery as well as routine examinations. Floaters to some degree are common with everyone, but if you have noticed it has increased substantially it's best to be seen, especially the way you are describing them. If you don't have an eye doctor you already see, when looking for one either get a referral from your primary doctor or look one up, just be sure it has MD after the name as opposed to OD. In your phone book there should be a section for physicians and surgeons, under ophthalmology.

it means you need to see an optometrist, if you wear glasses or contacts then you need to update your prescription.
If not then you will need glasses or contacts.
Once you have sorted this out the squiggly's will go

Hey! I would see your doctor first before you see an optometrist. The reason why i say this is because it may not be an actual eye problem - i'm only using this as an example so please DON'T PANIC - it may be something else, such as a parasite that may have entered the eye via the blood stream. In this case you could wear all the glasses you want, they won't go away unless you get the correct medication to kill them.

Again, i'm not saying this is what you have - i'm not a doctor - but it may be worth your while to see one first just to rule out any other causes. If it is purely an eye problem, then your doctor will be able to refer you to an optometrist or a specialist who can help you.

upd8 ur prescription and see an optomerist right away!
