Can dry eyes decrease my vision?!

Question: When my eyes get really dry I get more ghosting, blurry and overall poorer vision. No doctor said I had severe dry eye but I do kinda have a "rough cornea." Lubricant drops do not stop the bad vision but may help prevent it from getting drier. If I were to totally eliminate my dry eye would that likely fix my vision problems? It seems like I could have "Abberations" on my cornea but its kind of odd that it has gotten a lot worse over the past few years. I have updated my glasses recently so I know it has nothing to do with that. Also I notice when I just get new glasses that are a little strong on me I see a lot better than if its just right. BTW I'm planning on getting RGP contacts and hope that will help a bit but I'm worried that dry eye could be the cause of my ghosting vision. I never remember having these vision problems before high school of course I might not have payed attention either.

Dryness can definitely decrease your visual acuity.

Well, RGP lenses can definitely help if you have an irregular cornea. You don't have Keratoconus, do you?

The dry eye though--is that a guess or you've been told you have dry eye by your doctor? If you have been told to use artificial tears and they don't help a lot, make sure you let your eye doctor know--there are other things that can be done for dryness.

I assumed by some things you say that you are nearsighted with astigmatism, is that right?

Yes it can. Aslo can cause infections. Use artifical tears if necessary.

yes -try Systane and follow up with an opthalmologist.
