Do I have pink eye?!

Question: In my right eye, below my pupil and a bit to the left it's a weird pinkish red color. I haven't been getting much sleep lately, but it doesn't hurt or sting or anything. Is this pink eye? Is my eye bloodshot? Or, is this just a result of sleep deprivation?

Having had pink eye I can tell you that you don't. If you wake up in the morning and your eyes are stuck shut with sticky matter and when you open your eyes they sting, you probably have pink eye. By the way it is highly contagious. If someone touches it they will get it. Best advice is to see a dr if you think you have it.

you need to go see a doctor

umm) you got pink eye

If you wear contact lenses, and leave them in for too many nights in a row, you could have a slight eye infection or it could be pink eye orrrr if you have a cold and (this is gross) but say you wipe your nose with your hand and then touch your eye, you can get a cold in your eye and it will appear a reddish bloodshot color.

Dookie.

First - have you been to an optometrist? An optometrist is an eye health specialist trained in diagnosing this sort of thing. Without seeing your eye, it could be a few different things. You may have a pterygium forming, or a pingueculum forming. Either of these issues are related to long term sun damage. Pink eye is an inflammation of the clear membrane which covers your eye and lids called your conjunctiva. Diagnosing this over the Internet is useless, as there are two types of conjunctivitis (pink eye) infection by virus, or bacteria. One can be treated with antibiotics, the other can't. Also you may be suffering from other issues - a dry eye, scratched sclera, high blood pressure, and the list goes on. Make an appointment with an optometrist, as you do not want an infection in the eye going untreated. Your sight is too precious to lose.

Sounds like it could be pink eye. Were you rubbing your eyes before you had it or did you put something on your face that got in your eyes? It definitely sounds irritated to me.

If by pink eye you mean conjunctivitis then you'd have in both eyes. Most likely is a sub-conjuctival hemorrhage. It looks worse than it is and clear up on its own. If the problem persists consult an optometrist.

If it is pink eye, you would have some symptoms. Pink eye can show up when you least expect it, and it is very contagious. There is more than one type of pink eye, and how you treat it depends on the type. If it is bacterial you need antibiotic ointment or drops. There is no particular treatment for viral pink eye. If it is an allergy that is causing your difficulty you may need anti-inflammatories or antihistamines. Frequent hand washing is crucial to prevent spreading the virus or bacteria, depending on which type you have. This link gives basic information. Best of luck.
