It depends on how sensitive your eyes are, everyone has different pain thresholds. Usually about a week or so though. The more you wear them the quicker you'll get used to them. Also they are not designed for occasional wear as you'll go through this everytime, they are designed for you to wear most of the time, obviously your optician will have told you exactly how to wear them (time-wise). If you only want occasional wear then go back to your optician and explain this to them ( a good optician would have established this though, so I assume you want pretty much full-time wear).
