Question About Contact Lenses!?!

Question: I HATE wearing glasses so I hardly ever wear mine...anyways, I am missing so much of the world.

I have a sheet with my prescription for glasses on it, how long would it take to get contacts? Can I just walk into my local optometrists office and walk out with some contacts? Or would it take like a week? How much are they per pair? Anything else?

You will have to go back to the eye doctor for a contact fitting. There are more measurements required with contacts than there are glasses. The eye doctor has to measure your pupils, so that you get the right size of contacts. He/she will do that, then let you try out various samples of contacts, to see which ones feel best to you. You'll be sent home with at least one trial pair to wear for 2 weeks. If you do well with the contacts, he may go ahead and give you your scrip for contacts that day, so that you can order online or at any eye doctor's office. That was what my eye doctor did...fitted me, trained me in caring for contacts, then gave me my trial pair and scrip, because he said I did very well. If your eye doctor wants you to do the 2 week trial, then come back in to see how you did, he/she will give you your scrip on that follow-up appointment.

If your eye doctor has a box of your specific brand and vision power in stock after your fitting, you can buy them right then. If not, they will have to order the contacts for you, and that can take 1-2 weeks at most.

You can also order your contacts at 1800contacts.com. They are much cheaper than most eye doctors' offices, and have really fast shipping. I order my contacts from there, and I usually get them within 5 days or less, even with the standard shipping. You can always upgrade to express shipping if you need them faster though.

Contacts are sold by the box at reputable stores, not by the pair.

Contact prices vary widely. If you wear dailies, they could be as little as $10. They go up from there, according to brand, wear length allowed, for astimatism or regular, etc. The cheapest ones are dailies, then weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and yearly (most expensive).

You make an appointment with your eye doctor. You get fitted for lenses. You get given about a week for a trial. You make another appointment and come back to discuss how things went. You get a lesson in hygeine and all the jazz. Then you order your contacts. if they have them in stock then great you go home with them, if not, you have to wait for delivery. So, it's gonna take at least a week or so.

u have to have a different eye exam for contacts. u have to go back to the doc and tell him u want contacts.

Today just about everyone can wear contact lenses, and there are more healthful and convenient contact lens options than ever before.
