Glasses are like shoes; they feel great when you first try them on, but after wearing them your toes hurt, your heels are raw, and your in-steps are sore. Same thing with your glasses. They feel great when you first get them adjusted, but after wearing them all day, your may be sore behind the ears, your nose may be tender, and the sides of your head where the temples rest may be sore.

Sometimes, an optician who really knows frame adjustments can take care of this the first time you go back. But sometimes it does take a few trips back. It is totally normal. Just be sure you tell the optician where it hurts and what kinds of problems you are having so she can adjust them properly for you the first time around!

Good luck!

Usually just the once when I pick them up and then they are ok

Depends how good the person is who is adjusting them.

they usually are suppose to fit the first time = /

You shouldn't have to go back that often for an adjustment. Either the person doing the adjusting isn't proficient or you purchased a really cheap frame that won't stay in adjustment. In the optical world, you really do get what you pay for.
