Can stem cells cure or treat optic nerve atrophy in China?!

Question: A company called Beike Biotech emailed me & I spoke to them over the telephone about it. I wanted to know if stem cells can cure or treat optic nerve atrophy? She told me that she has only been doing this for 8 months and there is no guarantee but that those who were treated with stem cell injections saw improvement in vision (not total corrected) but improvement. The company does the procedure in Hangzhou China & the cost is very expensive and it comes out of pocket ($24,000 US Dollars). My question, is this a scam or is it for real? Have I found a dream come true since I am legally blind and have been so since I was a child and now I'm 27? Or is this another scam run to get money for nothing, especially for the reputation of scams in China? Can this be true, my opthomologist says there is no cure or treatment for optic atrophy but stem cells are a new thing and since the Bush administration veteod stem cell research then that leaves out the possibility of research. What do you think

To my knowledge, there has been NOTHING written in the journals regarding treatment of optic atrophy with embryonic stem cells. I would be VERY suspicious of these claims. The best scams work well when they target individuals who have great needs and have no options available to them to remedy these needs. These indiduals can easily be manipulated emotionally to make unwise decisions because they are too deep inside the problem to make rational logical decisions. Try to put yourself outside this issue and ask yourself if you would recommend this to someone else without in depth study and investigation. If indeed this works, it will work just as well in a year as it does today. Take some time to really do you homework.
