Sleeping and swimming with contacts?!

Question: I have disposable soft lens (focus dalies).
Is it ok to take short naps with them?
or swimming in ocean and/or pool water?

when i got disposable soft lens, i asked about naps and they said no. also i'm pretty sure if you swam with contacts in they'd fall out.

You shouldn't sleep with them, or leave them in for long periods of time. If left in long enough, they can actually fuse to your eyes.

Not to mention while sleeping, when you go into REM (Rapid Eye Movement), it is possible for them to slide above their normal position and get stuck, which can quickly cause infection not to mention heavy irritation.

The answer to your question is NO. I am a contact wearer myself and I always take them out before I go to the beach or go to bed. I know it's a pain but it really should be done. I slept in my contacts once and my left one ended up rolling into the back of my eye and breaking. I had to go see my Optometrist to get it safely removed. Other than being a pain, you can suffer real eye damage if not removed. I advise you to not ever sleep in them or wear them in the water.

Focus Dailies are meant to be tossed out at the end of the day and not worn while sleeping. So no - you shouldn't sleep with them in. Swimming would be fine just obviously don't open your eyes under water. But no - they will not "fuse to your eye" as someone else stated LOL!

If you want lenses you can sleep in and that are MUCH more comfortable than these I highly recommend 02 Optix. I wear mine for a week or two and then toss them. You can buy them quite cheaply at http://www.800contacts.com

Dont wear them to take a nap I once did this and woke up to see nothing but a smokey film in front of eyes I thought the house was on fire an't done that again

No you should not unless your eye doctor said you could.

Sleeping in your lenses can cause irreversible damage to the front part of the eye the cornea.

Swimming hmmm some people do some dont. Most eye doctors would probably tell you not to as it increases your chances of getting eye infections etc

If you defntly have daily lenses and wear them swimming I would remove them as soon as I get our of the pool so as not to damage my eyes
