Is there a phobia of....?!

Question: something touching your eye? I currently wear glasses and I tried to go get contacts the other day, but I just couldn't do it! He was holding my eye open, about to put the contact lense in and...it's like my eye wouldn't let him, I was so scared of putting it in my eye. Then my eyes started watering ( I wasn't crying) from just thinking about contacts! Now I have keep trying to touch my eye to get used to it, so I can have contacts. I'm having some trouble with that.
So, is that a phobia or do I just have sensitive eyes?

It is a natural reaction not to want to put something in your eye. Your body is designed to blink when something is coming at your eye, to keep things out...that is a reflex, I think, so that bad things don't get in your eye & hurt you. However, you also might have a slight fear of it as well. If you really want contacts, I would keep trying to get over it, like what you are doing now. Touching your eye, or maybe putting in eyedrops (just plain "moisturizing" ones) a couple times a day, so you get used to it. Obviously, though, if you are going to touch your eye, make sure your fingers are clean so you don't get an infection.

ya its a phobia but you probably dont have it
youre just afraid

pretty natural
i know alot of people like it
so either they stick to glasses or they try as hard as they can to get it

sensitive eyes! dont worry it always takes some adjusting just put them in and get used to it and then you can see!! 8 )

Take Care!

Ommetaphobia is fear of eyes, and Aphephobia is being afraid of something touching you. so it could be a mix?

I had the same problem. It took me a while to get used to wearing contacts, but it was worth it. I'm pretty sure you don't have a phobia, you just need to get used to wearing them or getting your finger close to your eye. Contacts are better then glasses.
good luck =)

It could just be a reflex. Your eyes generally water and blink so you wouldn't get dust in them. But there's pretty much a phobia of everything, so it could be that too.

There aren't exactly "established" phobias, though some tend to be more common. You can create a phobia of ANYTHING for yourself. It's a response to anxiety avoidance. So yes--fear of touching your eye can become a phobia.

no but i have that problem 2 it normaly happens if u have 20 40 or one good eye and a bad one they become extra sencative

yeah but you have to et past it.

This is hard for you and i do understand. i hate even trying to get a eyelash out . it hurts , my eye turns red, and i just can not get my finger to get in to far. So I realize your fears but I Know YOU CAN DO IT!
First you have to resolve the fact that you do not like glasses and you actually must hate them to do this right. If your not mad at your glassed and your eyes and you start that internal fight to do what you feel is the best for you. Then you will struggle with this in your head..

Get out of your head when your being challenged to do something you really don't like but you must always remember that .

To win this fight , you must plan for battle. it is not going to be easy , and anything that is good is usually is a struggle at first so don't dare give up!

How bad do you want to win? , Will you allow your eyes to control your life? No of coarse not, Then FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT , MARK MY WORDS YOU WILL WIN.
