Unfortunately, I don't think so at first. I wear soft ones and have for a long time, but I remember when I first got them. It wasn't a nice feeling.
I'm not sure how they begin you out with gas permeable one's, but I'm assuming that they'll tell you to wear them on some sort of a "schedule" until you get used to them. For instance 1 hour the first day, maybe 1 1/2 hours the second day, etc. That's how I started out and it works well--it let's your eyes sort of "break in" gradually to the contacts.
My husband DIDN'T follow the regimen they suggested. He wore them once for about 8 hours straight, complained all night and never put them in again.
The scratchy feeling will go away and you'll love them once you get used to them--good luck.
I have had contacts for a year now and the feeling goes away after about the second day and you get really fast and putting them in and taking them out i love mine i can not even feel them they are great but dont give up on them i no what u r talking about they were really uncomfertble but in a couple days they will be great!
