Please... do not have the lowest bidder do your surgery. Furthermore, the most expensive doesn't mean the best surgery. Get a referral from your optometrist or family doctor for a reputable surgeon. Cost varies quite a bit but usually in the neighborhood of 1700 to 2000 per eye.
People have had problems. Visit surgicaleyes.org I do not intend to scare you. I am an optometrist who has has a fantastic experience with laser surgery. I just really encourage people not to get their info from message boards.

1700 per eye.
no major problems after.
i was really nervous at first because for a while i was kind of blurry but it went away and life without contacts and glasses is wonderful.

i think it's about 2 g. My mom and Aunt had it. My mom's worked, my Aunt's didn't...

my grandpa had it, it really helped his sight, but he had a problem with blues being to bright for a while, i think it went to normal after a few months though.

Lasik costs up to 1000$ per eye. It is very well done and no one has reported any major eye problems after it has been done.

I have not had it.
Presently, Ads in Houston, TX.
$300.00 per eye.

No info on them.

My late wife had it done, both eyes, one at a time.
Not by above.
Very successful.

I've heard of failures.

I had LASIK a little over a year ago. I paid around $4K, but I paid additional just in case I had any problems with the first go around and had to get it done again. (I have a pretty bad astigmatism in both eyes, so I wasn't taking any chances.) The one thing no one told me was how badly your eyes hurt after. Honestly, the next three days, I could barely open my eyes. But after that, it took my eyes about a week to adjust (I had to pull my monitor really close to read), and I'm very happy with the results. The only thing I notice now is that lights appear very bright, and if I'm driving at night, I see halos. If you're concerned about paying for it, they do offer credit, so I'm paying for mine monthly with no interest for 18 months.

Hello!

I have never had Lasik, so I can't answer the cost question, but three of my relatives had it years ago. My cousin was almost blind (literally) and now she only has to wear glasses to drive. My aunt wore contacts or glasses everyday from the time she was five, and now doesn't have to wear anything. My grandmother also had it, and despite a little discomfort later the same day (due to her age) she said she would do it all over again if she had to, it was that worth it. She doens't have to wear glasses anymore either. My aunt and my cousin got it right when the technique was introduced. Since then the technology has improved, so I am sure it is even better now than it was then.

5 years ago! 2000.00 and the i had to have a detached retina on top of it all...make sure you have a good doctor references!

i had it done about 3 yrs ago in northern ireland, 400 pounds per eye. it was much more expensive in dublin. i've had no problems since, except for a little haloing in the night-time around lights, though i've gotten used to that now. would defo recommend it, quick, easy and reletively painless. it was like a miracle. something i had prayed for all my life (-6.5ish script in both eyes) Go for it!!

I work for a LASIK surgeon, and if I were to give anyone advice on choosing a facility, I would say....do your homework!!! Find out how new the laser is, what kind it is, how many procedures the surgeon that is going to do the LASIK has done (advertising can be VERY misleading!!!), and what is included in your fee!! Do you have to pay for the drops used afterwords, how many post operative visits are included, etc.

The most common side effect is dry eyes which lasts an average of three months. Dry eyes can cause your vision to be hazy. There is also risk of infection, but it's more likely that you would get an infection from contact lens use than a LASIK procedure.

Choose a surgeon wisely!!
