Pink eye question?!

Question: How long does it last?
I got a pink eye last Thursday due to a science project in class, my classmate and me were doing this thing and we had to use some acid.. and I didn't know I had some chemicals in my hands T_T I think I rubbed my eyes with my hands without washing it and the next day my eyes were full of white pus.. like I would clean it and it would somehow form more T_T I went to the hospital with my mom and the doctor gave me this prescription "tobramycin ophthalmic" and he told my mom that I have to instill 1 or 2 drops daily for 10 days.. i did that, my eyes got better now, but sometimes when I wake up I feel some stuff in my eyes like white pus TT_TT is that normal?? and hmm how long will it last? the doctor said my eye would be good in 3 days.. it got better but not really and my next eye check up is within a two months (its the closest date they had open) TT_TT

Did you actually do the drops for the full 10 days? It may have cleared up within 3 days, but is very important to continue the full course of drops. I would recommend a follow up with an ophthalmologist now. This way it will be hopefully cleared up and your eyes will be fine for your exam to be tested. If you have any lingering infection they'll make you reschedule. Call the office you see and tell them your situation, they usually allow time for emergency cases, rather than routine exams. I'm surprised the hospital didn't tell you to follow up with someone, I'm assuming this was an after hours visit to the hsopital.

Did you ever rince your eyes out with water? That should have been the first thing to do.

That perscription of drops for your eyes is only for lubrication and pain reduction . Otherwise its useless stuff.

Sounds like your eye is just fine. The eye heals very rapidly and the tissue is very tender and sensitive so be a bit more patient.

I dont see any reason for drops either, Doctors give out perscriptions just to pacify the patients. If you washed it out with clear water it would heal just as fast and as good as those eye drops.

Should any more problems occur See an Opthamologist MD. That is a Medical Doctor specializing in eyes. Not some regular Family Practice Doc. They dont know much about eyes.

I doubt the condition you describe was caused by the acid/chemicals; generally when you get chemicals in your eye(s) there would be obvious pain immediately! Pink eye is very contagious, you probably got it from somebody else in one of your classes. If the medicine is not working, maybe you could see an doctor that specializes in eye conditions and have it looked at (I would't wait for 2 months)

What you described can't have been pink eye, the chemical obviously irritated your eye-maybe even burned it. Go to an opthamologist-they are MDs and have more experience. DON'T wait 2 months-your eyes are precious, take care of them.

Clean it with saline a few times a day, it should help to feel better. And yea, get to see an ophthalmologist ASAP.
