If you switch to a different brand of contact lenses, do you need a new prescrip!

Question: I want to switch from Acuvue 2 to O2 optix, do i need a new prescription? or can i still provide the same info:

base curve
and DIA

and get the new type of contacts but with the same vision strength as my old ones.

If your prescription the doctor gave you specifies a certain brand, chances are you will only be able to order that brand unless he/she writes you another scrip. If a brand isn't specified on your scrip, you should be able to order a different kind with no problem.

Your best bet would be to speak with your eye doctor on this though...he/she probably had a reason for prescribing the contacts you're using now. If you think you want to switch, he/she should be able to let you try out a trial pair of the 02 Optix before you actually start ordering them, so you can tell whether or not you like them before you start spending money on them. The eye doctor might also want you to have another contact fitting with the 02 Optix; even though they may say they are the same size, all brands fit differently and/or are made of different materials...so the fit might not be the same, even though the measurements are identical.

No, you shouldnt need to. ask in your opticians about it. I switched from 1 Day Acuvue to Dailies a while back coz they were $10 cheaper. they did give me a couple to try out first, in case i was allergic to the new lenses but there was no need to get a new prescription.

Yes, shdn't be a problem. But do get a fitting for the lenses at the optical shop. it will be much more better
