Can I sleep with my contacts in every once in awhile?!

Question: I occasionally fall asleep with my contacts in. You know, when taking naps. I've read that sleeping with contacts can make your vision worse rapidly or even make you go blind.

You will do damage if they are not the kind that you can sleep in. Your contacts need to breathe and when sleeping, they are not able to do unless constructed that way. It takes only one time to hurt your eyes, and you don't get replacements, so be careful. Check with your optometrist to see if you have the kind that can be left in overnight for a night or two. Don't trust your eyes to us, check with the professional.

I do that too. And I've never heard that occasionally taking naps with contacts in is going to do any damage. And I think if it did, the eye doctor would have warned about that before giving you the contacts. I just wouldnt make a habit of sleeping with them in.

If you don't have the type of contacts made to where you can sleep in them, you shouldn't sleep in them. Night and Day contacts are made so that they "breathe" better. Other contacts will probably get really dry. I don't know if they worsen your vision though.

no it doesnt make you go blind or anything.. i went for most of the summer without ever really taking mine out. it just really dries out your eyes, so i would suggest trying to take them out every night. but no, it wont really hurt you to leave them in for a night or two at a time. i just take them out for a minute in the morning so i can put some eye drops in and moisten up the contacts a bit.

A few things...When you sleep your eye's do a Rapid Eye Movement in which sometimes makes your lenses fall off the cornea mostly occurs if the lense is not correctly fitted for your eyes or Contacts for astigmatism. also when you sleep your eye's need oxygen and whithout it your eye's may get very red or/and dry..It is not a good thing to sleep with your lenses

it all depends on the type contacts you are going to wear--extended wear may not harm you but sleeping can displace or hurt your cornea----your try to wear your contacts for exams; --you should have previous experience for wearing or all your anxiety of your exams; must be avoided for new experience.

Not recommended but if no chocie then shd be ok. Just use eye drop. Best of all, use the silicone lenses
