Have you ever had a 5mW green laser pointer pointed at your eye?!

Question: Just wondering if by accident or by someone else. Did it cause any permanent damage? These are rated Class IIIb which is a step up from the cheaper red ones I think, and those didn't do much to my eye when it was directly exposed to it for 10 seconds... at least no damage that's easily noticeable (I did it on a dare for $20, i know it was stupid)

how could you risk damaging your eye for 20 bucks man... okay im not much better i used to smoke when im bored ( very rarely ) but im done with that now.. so yeah

of course it will not be instantly noticeable, but i bet you did some coronary damage and should get it checked out by a optometrist

uhh.. does that dare somehow relate to the fact that you wear glasses?

no

you are taking about impossibility--the said instrument to handle you need experience, I do not know--if you are talking about short range or long range ex poser--a medical treatment laser works for a distance of 33cm' an effective ranges any other thing is military operations ---if you expect military lazer to fall on one's eye to have bad effect the answer is-- yes--all medical laser treatment is for permanent damage

First of all no, I value my sight. And second, you know how people always told you not to stare into the sun? That it'd damage your eyes? Well, I'm pretty sure we've all looked into the sun at least once. And we're not all blind. So yeah, I think it's more of an issue that OVER TIME exposure causes problems. Kind of like exposure to the sun over the years can cause skin cancer. You could have caused some damage to your cornea though. Did you know that you can even get sunburned on your corneas? But slight damage heals, so you should be fine. Just don't make a habit out of it.
