Reason for becoming shortsighted?!

Question: m 14 atm, and ive had 100% vision since i was 11.
I started using the computer alot when i was 12 and i had no problems until the start of this year when i went for a check-up he said i had become short sighted and idk how these numbers work but he said my eye sight was -2.25
and when he told my mum she straight away jumped to the conclusion that its from the computer but then the optometrists said that sometimes during puberty because of the growth spurt some people can become short sighted and that it will wear off.

Is this true, will i have 100% vision again?

i have glasses but i only wear them mostly at school for reading the white board.

There is little no no evidence to suggest that spending too much time watching TVs or computer screens can have a long term effect on your eyesight. Looking at them for long periods of time can strain them to point of tiredness or even give you a headache but nothing that would cause short sightedness.

When you go through the puberty growth spurt even the bne structure of the face is growing and changing and yes in some cases this will have a small effect on the shape of the eye. This means that, while the muscles that control the lens of the eye are working correctly, the change in eye shape results in the lens not focusing the image on the retina properly.

As you continue to grow the problem may very well correct itself back to 20/20. However I would also warn you that it may well not return fully to normal, stay the same or even get slightly worse. Though you've a long way till your eyesight gets as bad as mine at -11.50!

You will most likely get your vision back to normal by the time you've finished your final stage of puberty; Dont worry about it, it probably isnt the computer. Tell your mom to chill out Lol.

i guess that goes with me to i've spend so-much time on the computer as well an its making my eyes ace badly they hurt is it getting worse?

Some doctors would say that.......... sleeping with the light on..as a child, is a major contributory factor in the development of short sightedness as the eye needs long periods of total darkness to develop properly......
