I have night vison eyesight problems?!

Question: Ok, when I turn of the light and look at something the object disapears but when I look at something else I see the object that I couldn't see before in the corner of my eye.

Its like when I look forcusly at something the image is really hard to see, but when I look away I can see the image.

I saw an eye doctor and he couldn't find anything. what is it.

it only happens in the dark

This is normal. The central part of the retina requires lots of light to detect objects, the peripheral parts will detect objects in lower light.

When you look directly at an object you are using the central part and may not see it in low light. By looking slightly to the side of the object, you place the object on the peripheral retina and thus see it.

You can notice this easily when looking a dim stars in the night sky. Some stars will disappear if looked at directly, but be visable when you look slightly to the side.

Did you see an ophthalmologist or optometrist? It's best to see an ophthalmologist because they are more educated and experienced in eye diseases. I used to work for eye doctors and your situation sounds familiar. Just becuase one doctor said there is nothing wrong, you'll give up. Keep getting second opinion. I remember one time, we saw a patient complaining of blurry eyes and headaches and the other doctor i worked for did everything he could and ordered tests and found out the guy has brain tumour. Other doctors he saw just brushed him and said he just needed a new eyeglass prescription. (Im just giving you an example.)

I noticed that about my eyes as well when I turn off the light before going to sleep. I figured that it was just normal but maybe we've both got poor night vision...

See a retinal specialist. You may have a visual field limiting disorder that would go undetected by a standard snellen chart, making your first doctor believe your vision is 'average.'

oh my gosh!! i know EXACTLY what you mean!! i've always been that way. i just figured that it was normal. i do have TERRIBLE vision when i'm driving my car at night.

good question!

i'm sorry that i have no answers for you. i'm just looking forward to the replies that you receive.
