Question about getting contact lens?!

Question: I want to get contacts but I have a damaged retina, will that affect the eye doctor's opinion about prescribing them to me and are contacts usually covered by insurance. If not, how much do they usually cost?

As long as you see better with contacts a damaged retina can't prevent you from getting them. Contacts can be covered by insurance if you have an eye care plan. I am not sure to what extent the coverage is. The cost of contacts depends on type (soft or GP), brand (Acuvue, Boston....) and the type and severity of your prescription (how much astigmatism, myopia..). Usually soft contacts cost around $200 a year while RGP cost about $130 ($65/lens) per 2 years. Also you usually are required to have a refitting every year to make sure your prescription is up to date, your eyes are healthy, and your lenses are working well. This is cheaper than the original fitting cost.

They range depending on the kind you need. Check out sites like

www.1800contacts.com and look. I have monthly disposables and they are around 100.00 for six months.

The cost of the contacts really depends on what kind of contact are you getting, like monthly, daily or fortnightly. The most expensive would be daily and the cheapest is monthly. For all details, information and remedies about contacts check out http://use-contactlens.blogspot.com/
