Keeping Contacts Lubricated?!

Question: I've been having a lot of problems with my contacts lately since beginning a job which requires computer usage all day.

Nearly everyday I will develop halos around all light sources. I've concluded that it's due to them being dry.

This problem never occurs without contacts and rarely occurs with contacts when I'm not at work. So, it's likely due to the monitors I stare at.

I've tried Visine lubricating drops and they do not help. The only solution is to remove the contacts and an hour or so later my vision will return to normal.

I soak my contacts nightly (8+ hours) in solution.

I plan to get Lasik soon to solve this problem, but it's a hassle until then. I don't want to wear glasses.

Any other solutions or products I can try?

For moisturizing my eyes when I've got my contacts in, I like the AMO Complete Moisture drops and CibaVision Aquify drops. Both work great for me.

I used to use the Complete Multipurpose solution with my contacts, and my eyes always stayed so dry. I ended up switching to two different brands, Alcon's Opti-Free Replenish, and CibaVision's Aquify. Both those brands actually help your contacts retain moisture while you wear them. Using solutions like that have helped me so much that I hardly ever need my eye drops at all anymore. Pretty much the only time I need drops now is if my allergies are acting up, causing my eyes to be itchy or excessively dry-feeling. Both solutions can be used as a no-rub or you can rub the lenses; that's up to you. The Aquify solution also comes with a new contact case in each box, so each time I open a new bottle of solution, I can change my case as well.

Same thing happened to me. I was also told by the doctor that if you have worn contacts for a long time and are getting older, (I'm only 30), your body often starts to have a hard time wearing them and they dry out more easily. I found that Opti Free Replenish works really well, its more expensive than most, but its worth it. You should also invest in those oasis disposable contacts, which help too but are expensive.
Bottom line until you get the surgery you might have to spend some cash to be comfortable. Visine never worked for me at all!

i get this all the time too.

you can use eye drops specially made for contact-lens wearers, i use some stuff called VitalEyes contact soother, you can get it online i think, but i bought mine from Boots, it's about
